Qatar U18 Basketball Team Head to India for Asian Cup
Doha, August 10 (QNA) - Qatar's U18 basketball team will travel to Ahmedabad, India, on Tuesday to participate in the Asian Cup, scheduled for Aug. 13-23.
Qatar was drawn in Group C alongside China, Iran and Sri Lanka. The team will begin its campaign against Iran on Aug. 14, before facing China on Aug. 16 and Sri Lanka on Aug. 18.
Qatar qualified for the continental tournament after finishing second with seven points and winning the silver medal in the Gulf qualifiers hosted by Doha.
The Asian Cup also serves as a qualifier for the 2027 FIBA U19 World Cup in the Czech Republic, with the top four teams earning qualification.
The Qatari team has been preparing through a training camp in Doha under Turkish coach Cengiz Karadag, following its strong showing in the Gulf qualifiers.
The delegation is headed by Secretary-General of the Qatar Basketball Federation and Director of National Teams Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari.
The squad includes Abdullah Yassin, Tamim Ashraf Abu Issa, Ziad Al Bitar, Muadh Omar Moussa, Azzam Mohammed Yakan, Ziad Tamer Al Jowhari, Mohammed Saeed Badri, Mahmoud Tamer Ibrahim, Amer Ibrahim Moussa, Owen Ikenna, Youssef Waleed Abdulqader and Shahi Mohammed. (QNA)
