Washington, July 08 (QNA) - The US military announced today that it had carried out strikes against targets in Iran, saying the operations were aimed at degrading Tehran's ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, the US military said its forces had begun conducting additional strikes against Iran as part of efforts to protect maritime security in the region. A US official said the military was carrying out its latest round of strikes on Iran just hours after US President Donald Trump announced the end of the memorandum of understanding that had halted the war with Tehran.
Meanwhile, Iran's Mehr News Agency reported that the country's air defense systems had engaged what it described as hostile targets near the southern city of Bandar Abbas. (QNA)
