Cairo, July 08 (QNA) - The Arab Parliament condemned in the strongest terms the targeting of the Qatari tanker Al Rekayyat while it was passing near the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that this incident represents a flagrant violation of the provisions of international law and a direct threat to the safety of maritime navigation and global energy supplies.

In a statement on Tuesday, Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi condemned the Iranian practices that threaten security and stability in the region and the security of international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which is a vital artery for the global economy, demanding an immediate halt to these violations that threaten the security of international waterways.

Al Yamahi stressed the Arab Parliament's categorical rejection of any attacks targeting Arab countries or their property in any way, reiterating the Arab Parliament's call for the need to respect the principles of good neighborliness and international charters, in order to guarantee freedom of navigation and safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz and strategic waterways, and to spare the region any escalation that would harm regional and international stability and threaten global energy security.
