Designed for residents of Qatar with prior experience in creative or craft-based disciplines, Herfah provides an intensive studio-based learning environment where participants will work closely with specialist tutors to develop technical proficiency across a range of traditional craft practices.
The curriculum is structured across three progressive terms: Term 1, held from 6 September to December 2026 for 14 weeks, begins with the Foundation Modules of Geometry, Drawing, and Biomorphic Design, introducing participants to the core design principles of traditional arts through geometric systems, and stylized natural forms.
The term concludes with Natural Pigments and Dyes, introductory Craft Modules in Ceramics, Decorative Painting, Textiles, and Gypsum Carving.
Term 2, held from January to February 2027 for eight weeks, builds on these foundations through Geometry 2, deepening participants' understanding of traditional geometric principles, alongside practical training in Marquetry and Woodcarving.
The term also includes an additional Ceramics course, enabling participants to engage with a broader range of ceramic craft applications.
Term 3, held from March to May 2027 for nine weeks, will be dedicated to students' final projects (both group and individual work), drawing on the design and drawing skills acquired
in the Foundation Modules and applying knowledge from the various Craft Modules to develop their final outcomes.
Delivered in collaboration with The King's Foundation School of Traditional Arts, an internationally recognized institution renowned for excellence in teaching traditional arts, the program aims to preserve and celebrate timeless practices while deepening cultural understanding and creative skills.
