Justice Minister Names Members of National Committee for International Humanitarian Law
Doha, July 06 (QNA) - HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi has issued a decision appointing the members of the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law (NCIHL).
Pursuant to the decision, the NCIHL shall be chaired by HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Saeed bin Abdullah Al Suwaidi.
The decision contemplates the Committee's membership as comprising Brigadier General Abdullah Ibrahim Al Fadhala as the representative of the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Saad Salem Al Dosari as the representative of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), Sarah Abdullah Al Saadi as the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Khalid Mohammed Al Khamis Al Obaidli as the representative of the Ministry of Justice and Rapporteur of the Committee.
The membership also includes Dr. Abdullah Hamad Al Khaldi as the representative of the Ministry of Justice, Mohammed Iskandar Al Qadi as the representative of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Ali Jaber Dharman as the representative of the Ministry of Public Health, and Maha Hamad Al Attiyah as the representative of the Ministry of Social Development and Family.
In addition, the Committee's membership comprises Ashwaq Saeed Al Sairi as the representative of the Ministry of Labor, HE Issa bin Arar Al Rumaihi as the representative of the Shura Council, Abdullatif Mohammed Al Jasmi as the representative of Qatar Museums, Dr. Sarah Hamad Al Qarah as the representative of Qatar University, Rashid Mohammed Al Hamda Al Nuaimi as the representative of Qatar Foundation (QF), and Faisal Mohamed Al Emadi as the representative of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS).
NCIHL is the national mechanism meant to promote respect for the provisions of international humanitarian law and to coordinate among the relevant national entities.
Its function includes following up on the implementation of the State of Qatar's international obligations in this respect, thereby helping to consolidate humanitarian principles and protect people during armed conflicts.
To mark this occasion, HE the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice and Chairman of NCIHL, Saeed bin Abdullah Al Suwaidi, welcomed the new members, wishing them success in performing their missions and in steadfastly continuing to achieve the Committee's mission and objectives.
His Excellency emphasized that the expertise and aptitude of these members would serve as a valuable addition that will enhance the Committee's work and strengthen its outcomes during its new term.
He also extended his profound gratitude to the members of the previous session, applauding their stalwart efforts and invaluable contributions, which had a deep impact on strengthening the Committee's path and its national role in promoting and reinforcing respect for international humanitarian law.
HE Saeed bin Abdullah Al Suwaidi affirmed that NCIHL is poised to present an integrated package of outstanding programs, activities, and initiatives to disseminate the culture of international humanitarian law at the national level.
Al Suwaidi added that this will also include capacity-building and fostering partnerships with national, regional, and global entities, which would ultimately contribute to entrenching the State of Qatar's standing as a paragon in supporting humanitarian work and strengthening respect for the international rules-based order.
