Doha, July 06 (QNA) - The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and Qatar-based Al Afiyah Health Channel have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation on public health awareness, with a focus on preventing obesity and diabetes.

The agreement aims to support community initiatives, produce evidence-based health content, run joint awareness campaigns and promote healthier lifestyles to help curb the spread of chronic diseases.

Dr Abdulrahman bin Salem Al Kuwari, founder and director general of Al Afiyah Health Channel, said the partnership reflected the growing role of health media in changing behavior and encouraging disease prevention.

Dr Adel El Sayed, the IDF's representative, said working with specialized media platforms would help deliver evidence-based health messages and support efforts to reduce obesity and type 2 diabetes across the region.

Dr Abdullah Al Hamaq, chief executive of the Qatar Diabetes Association, said collaboration between health and media organizations was essential to achieving lasting community impact and strengthening awareness of healthy lifestyles. (QNA)
