Zurich, July 29 (QNA) - FIFA unveiled that it has opened disciplinary proceedings against the Argentine Football Association, as well as three of its players, over the incidents that erupted after the final defeat to Spain.
The investigation concerns four potential breaches of the FIFA Disciplinary Code: using a sports event for demonstrations of a non-sporting nature, team misconduct, discriminatory and racist incidents, and match order and security.
A FIFA statement referred to discriminatory chants and gestures, delayed kick-offs in several matches, the display of inappropriate messages by the team and spectators, as well as spectators throwing objects during several matches, without providing further details.
In a separate case, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee opened proceedings against Argentine players Leandro Paredes, Nahuel Molina, and Thiago Almada, assistant coach Roberto Ayala, as well as Spanish defender Gavi, over the violent incidents that took place after Spain's victory in the World Cup final.
