Tokyo, July 27 (QNA) - Japan's Nikkei index closed higher on Monday, supported by a decline in oil prices.
The Nikkei rose 0.5 percent to close at 64,931.19 points after a volatile session in which trading swung between gains and losses. The broader Topix index also rose 1.37 percent to 4,066.07 points.
Shares of a number of companies posted strong gains, with software testing and quality assurance services company Shift rising 9.32 percent, while consulting services company BayCurrent climbed 8.95 percent.
Meanwhile, shares of optical fiber producer Fujikura fell 5.83 percent, and technology investment group SoftBank Group declined 3.07 percent. (QNA)
