OIC Welcomes Belgium, Netherlands Moves to Ban Israeli Settlement Imports
Jeddah, July 22 (QNA) - The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) hailed the Belgian and Dutch governments' moves to ban the import of products originating from unlawful Israeli settlements established on occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.
In a statement on Wednesday, it considered the decisions a well-deserved legal and political achievement, embodying the principles of international justice and consistent with international law, the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and resolutions of international legitimacy.
Foremost among them, the Secretariat said, is Security Council Resolution 2334, which affirmed the illegality of settlements and the importance of an immediate and complete cessation of all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.
In addition, the General Secretariat reiterated its call on all countries around the globe and the international community to follow the lead of these two decisions and take all practical and legislative measures to prohibit all economic, financial, and service-related activities linked to the Israeli occupation authorities and their colonial system in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
