Beirut, July 02 (QNA) - President of Lebanon General Joseph Aoun reaffirmed on Thursday Lebanon's commitment to building strong relations with Syria based on cooperation, coordination, and mutual non-interference in each other's internal affairs.

During talks with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shaibani, President Aoun stressed Lebanon's commitment to Syria's stability, just as Syria supports Lebanon's stability.

He also welcomed the establishment of the joint high committee between the two countries to advance shared interests, and praised Syrian President Ahmed Al Sharaa's position on Lebanon. Aoun said relations between the two countries had entered a new phase, adding that Syria would stand with all Lebanese rather than support one faction over another.

For his part, Al Shaibani said his visit to Lebanon aims to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance coordination, particularly in the economic sector. He reaffirmed Syria's support for resolving regional issues through dialogue rather than war and military confrontation.

The Syrian foreign minister added that the current Syrian leadership is working to move beyond past mutual interference between the two countries and is committed to expanding cooperation at all levels while engaging with all Lebanese parties. (QNA)
