Washington, July 14 (QNA) - US President Donald Trump met Tuesday with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al Zaidi during his visit to the United States.

Both sides discussed avenues for strengthening stability in the region and shared viewpoints on the bilateral relationship.

They also addressed ways to deepen bilateral ties, as well as the economic and strategic partnership between the two countries, particularly in the energy sector, while exploring opportunities for US firms' engagement in development projects in Iraq.

According to a statement by the Media Office of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Al Zaidi highlighted that Iraq counts on the United States to address economic and technological challenges, asserting that development plans and economic partnerships include all parts throughout Iraq.

For his part, the US President affirmed that the US would continue supporting Iraq, noting that Iraq had received US support in the fight against ISIS and that the United States backed the Iraqi government's efforts to reinforce stability and expand economic cooperation. (QNA)
