Three Oil Tankers Targeted off Oman's Coast, Maritime Security Center Says
Muscat, July 14 (QNA) - Three oil tankers were targeted in separate incidents off Oman's coast, the Omani Maritime Security Center said Tuesday, as it monitors the evolving situation and coordinates the response with relevant authorities.
The Center said the tanker Stolt Magnesium came under attack about 40 nautical miles off the coast of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, outside Omani territorial waters. The incident sparked a fire in the engine room.
Emergency support was provided to the vessel, and its 23-member crew was evacuated by a nearby maritime vessel. All crew members are reported to be in good condition, it added.
The Center said the tanker Mombasa B was also targeted about 8.5 nautical miles off the coast of Musandam Governorate, leaving the vessel unable to operate its engines.
Its 21-member crew was evacuated, including six people who suffered injuries of varying severity.
In a third incident, the Center explained that the tanker Al Bahyah was targeted about 9.6 nautical miles off the coast of Musandam Governorate.
A Royal Oman Navy vessel is monitoring the developing situation, the Center said. Eighteen crew members have been evacuated, while three remain missing.
The Center noted it will continue tracking the three incidents, taking necessary steps to protect maritime crews and respond to further developments in coordination with relevant authorities. (QNA)
