Nouakchott, July 10 (QNA) - An official delegation from Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has participated in the 50th session of the General Assembly of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization (ARCO).

Held in Nouakchott, Mauritania, the three-day meetings were attended by high-level representatives from the Mauritanian government, Arab National Societies, the League of Arab Nations, and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

QRCS's delegation comprised Assistant Secretary-General for Communication and Resource Development Mohamed Ahmed Al Beshri and Head of International Relations Dr. Aiham Ismail Al Sukhni.

The meeting discussed QRCS's key humanitarian operations in Mauritania, as well as future expansion plans to meet the needs of target communities and enhance sustainable humanitarian outcomes.

They also addressed how to strengthen coordination between QRCS and the embassy to contribute to joint humanitarian efforts and enable the Qatari initiatives to better serve those in need.

Several institutional and strategic topics were covered during the session, mainly the reports of Executive Committee, General Secretariat, and ad hoc committees. Other agenda items included the proposed statute and regulations amendments, draft IFRC constitutional amendments, progress on the 49th session’s resolutions, governance, and performance improvements.

The participants also addressed the humanitarian situation in many Arab countries, particularly Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia, and Djibouti.

They explored ways to strengthen coordination among National Societies and develop humanitarian programs to respond more effectively to the growing humanitarian needs in the region. (QNA)
