Occupied Jerusalem, June 08 (QNA) - The Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC) said that arrests and the targeting of women by Israeli occupation forces in the occupied West Bank continue to escalate at an unprecedented rate, noting that the number of Palestinian women held in Israeli occupation prisons and detention camps has risen to around 95.

In a statement issued Monday, the Club said the increase followed the arrest of three women earlier on Monday from the town of Kobar, northwest of Ramallah, the city of Jenin, and Al-Ain refugee camp in Nablus, including the wife of a Palestinian prisoner.

The statement added that Israeli forces last week arrested four female students from Birzeit University, including a recent graduate, and transferred them to Moskobiya detention center. A young woman with a physical disability was also arrested in Ramallah.

PPC said that the data and testimonies it continues to receive regarding violations against female detainees indicate an unprecedented level of abuse, driven by an escalation in systematic repression measures accompanied by severe beatings, as well as ongoing practices of mistreatment and humiliation.
