Arab League Condemns Israeli Blatant Attacks on Syria
Cairo, June 29 (QNA) - The Arab League strongly condemned the Israeli blatant attacks and repeated incursions into Syrian territory, including the latest artillery bombardment targeting the governorates of Quneitra and Daraa, saying the shelling endangered civilians and constituted a flagrant violation of Syria's sovereignty and a clear breach of international law.
In a statement issued on Monday, Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said the continued violations by the Israeli occupation forces threaten to ignite the region as a whole, expand the fronts of conflict and undermine efforts to restore security and stability. He added that the terrorism of force practiced by Israel is unacceptable to the international community.
Aboul Gheit called on the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibility by ending these aggressive practices and compelling Israel to abide by the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. (QNA)
