Doha, June 28 (QNA) - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), in cooperation with the Financial Information Unit and the Qatar Association of Certified Public Accountants, organized the second dialogue workshop on "Challenges of Compliance with Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Requirements and Mechanisms for Addressing Them: Reporting Suspicious Transactions."
A statement issued by the Ministry today indicated that this workshop comes within the framework of its efforts to enhance auditors' compliance with the legislative and regulatory requirements related to combating money laundering and terrorism financing, and to raise the level of reporting of suspicious transactions and the quality of suspicious transaction reports. This was achieved by discussing the most prominent challenges related to registration on the "Ekhtar" platform and the mechanisms for addressing them, thus contributing to supporting the safety and integrity of the economic environment.
The statement added that the workshop addressed several specialized topics, including the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's monitoring of auditors' compliance with reporting obligations, a review of the comparative strategic analysis of the fourth direct result for the auditing sector, and a discussion of the most significant challenges hindering the reporting of suspicious transactions, proposed mechanisms for addressing them, and the role of auditors in supporting the anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing system.
The workshop also featured an open discussion session with auditors, during which views were exchanged, key observations and practical challenges were discussed, and development proposals were put forward. This aims to enhance the effectiveness of related procedures and improve communication channels between the Ministry and those working in the sector. (QNA)
