UK, Lebanon Discuss Enhancing Military Cooperation
London, June 27 (QNA) - Chief of the Defence Staff of the United Kingdom, Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton, met on Saturday with Lebanese Army Commander Maj. Gen. Rudolph Haykal during his visit to the United Kingdom.
The two sides discussed avenues for supporting the Lebanese military and deepening military cooperation between the two countries.
According to a statement from the Command of the Lebanese Army, Maj. Gen. Rudolph Haykal met with British National Security Adviser and member of the House of Lords Jonathan Powell, Minister of State for Defence and member of the House of Lords, Lord Vernon Coaker, and British Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Middle East and North Africa Hamish Falconer.
The meetings reviewed the challenges facing the Lebanese military in carrying out its duties to protect security, stability, and borders, in addition to ongoing efforts to reach an enduring ceasefire in Lebanon. (QNA)
