Eight Militants Killed in Two Pakistan Army Operations in Southwest
Islamabad, June 27 (QNA) - Pakistan's army said on Saturday that eight militants were killed and several others wounded in two separate security operations in the southwestern province of Balochistan.
In a statement, the military said the operations were carried out in the districts of Kharan and Mastung as part of an ongoing campaign to eliminate militant groups operating in the province.
The first operation was launched after security forces tracked the movements of a group of militants in Kharan, killing three militants and wounding several others, the statement said. The second operation, conducted on Friday in Mastung, resulted in the deaths of five militants following an intense exchange of gunfire. Security forces also seized weapons, ammunition, improvised explosive devices and motorcycles.
Pakistani security forces have for years conducted operations against militant groups entrenched in mountainous areas that periodically carry out attacks on civilians and security personnel. (QNA)
