Cairo, June 27 (QNA) - The 8th Conference of the Arab Parliament and Speakers of Arab Councils and Parliaments wrapped up in Cairo, Egypt, on Saturday.
The conference praised the role played by the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the mediation between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which culminated in the signing of the memorandum of understanding on hashing out outstanding issues between them, along with the role of Arab nations in this respect.
The conference's statement underscored the unity of the Arab parliamentary stance toward issues and challenges confronting the Arab nation.
As outlined in this statement, participants adopted four parliamentary decisions on supporting the Palestinian cause, rejecting plans to eliminate this cause, condemning the assaults on several Arab countries, and pushing back against interference in their affairs. They likewise approved an Arab parliamentary vision that bolsters Arab digital sovereignty.
The one-day conference went over critical matters that included the significance of crystallizing a unified Arab stance to protect the security and stability of Arab nations against any external attacks.
In addition, it debated the evolving situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, along with the subject of fostering Arab digital sovereignty and protecting national privacy in the digital transformation era.
In their capacities as parliamentarians, the participants proffered their visions pertaining to these matters and discussed the relevant challenges.
Notably, with a delegation chaired by HE Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, the Shura Council took part in this conference. (QNA)
