Beirut, June 24 (QNA) - President of Lebanon Joseph Aoun said efforts are underway to consolidate a ceasefire in southern Lebanon, followed by Israeli withdrawal, Lebanese army deployment, residents' return, prisoner release, and reconstruction.

He said Lebanon–US–Israeli talks in Washington are continuing, focusing on security steps to restore stability and extend state authority to the southern border.

Aoun called for continued British support for the army and backing for an international presence in the south after UNIFIL's planned withdrawal in 2027.

He also said coordination with Syria is ongoing, noting positive remarks by Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa that helped clarify relations. (QNA)
