Boston, June 20 (QNA) - Morocco secured a 1-0 victory over Scotland early Saturday in its second Group C match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, strengthening its position in the race for a place in the Round of 32.
Ismael Saibari scored the match's only goal 71 seconds after kickoff, finishing off Morocco's fast start and giving his team three valuable points. The goal was the fastest of the tournament so far and set a record as the quickest World Cup goal scored by an Arab national team.
Morocco controlled much of the match with disciplined defending and quick counterattacks. Scotland pressed for an equalizer in the second half but could not break through a Moroccan defense that held firm until the final whistle.
The win lifted Morocco to four points at the top of Group C after the team opened its campaign with a 1-1 draw against Brazil. Scotland remained on three points.
Morocco will face Haiti in its final group-stage match, seeking to secure qualification and extend its unbeaten start to the tournament. (QNA)
