Kuwait, June 18 (QNA) - Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah expressed his hope that the memorandum of understanding concluded between the United States and Iran would contribute to strengthening regional stability, ensuring security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and addressing outstanding issues through sustainable solutions.

In a phone call he received on Thursday from his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, Sheikh Jarrah stressed the importance of basing relations among states on the principles of international law and the objectives enshrined in the United Nations Charter.

He also underscored the need to adhere to the principles of good neighborliness, respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states, non-interference in internal affairs, refraining from the use or threat of force, and resolving disputes through peaceful means.

Sheikh Jarrah further emphasized the importance of ending support for proxy actors, noting that such steps would help reinforce regional security and stability and advance the common interests of the countries and peoples of the region. (QNA)
