Doha, June 17 (QNA) - The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) announced that it has closed a restaurant for 15 days, effective from last Sunday, after it was suspected of being linked to cases of food poisoning.
In a statement, the ministry said that following reports circulating about suspected food poisoning cases associated with a restaurant, it responded immediately to a number of complaints as part of its prompt precautionary measures, which included the temporary closure of the establishment.
The ministry also collected food samples and conducted the necessary laboratory tests and analyses. In addition, it completed health assessments of the restaurant's employees. Investigations remain ongoing, including monitoring the results of laboratory testing of food samples and staff assessments, completing all related public health procedures, analyzing the findings, and taking any necessary measures based on the results. These steps are aimed at maintaining the highest standards of food safety and protecting public health.
The ministry emphasized its commitment to the legal regulations governing the disclosure of food establishments found to be in violation. Under these regulations, the names of establishments are not made public unless a violation has been conclusively established and final decisions have been issued. Measures taken during the investigation stage remain precautionary actions intended primarily to safeguard public safety.
The Ministry of Public Health urged members of the public to verify information carefully and rely only on official sources. It also encouraged residents to report any concerns related to food safety by contacting the health sector's unified call center at 16000. (QNA)
