HH the Amir Holds Phone Call with US President on Regional Developments
Doha, June 11 (QNA) - HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held a telephone conversation on Thursday with HE President Donald Trump of the United States of America during which they discussed bilateral relations and the latest regional and international developments.
The two leaders discussed the close strategic partnership between the State of Qatar and the United States and explored ways to further strengthen cooperation.
The discussions also focused on diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region. In this context, HH the Amir and HE President Trump took stock of the outcomes of consultations and understandings reached between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which have led to progress in the ongoing negotiation process.
President Trump said the understandings reached had received the approval of all concerned parties, with the participation and support of several friendly countries, including the State of Qatar. He added that efforts were continuing to complete the final procedures ahead of an announcement on arrangements for signing an agreement.
For his part, HH the Amir welcomed efforts to resolve disputes through dialogue and peaceful means, reaffirming the State of Qatar's support for initiatives aimed at strengthening regional and international security and stability and promoting peace and cooperation among countries in the region.
His Highness also expressed his appreciation to HE President Trump for his efforts in supporting de-escalation and diplomatic engagement. (QNA)
