Following the meeting, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi stated the following:
At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet renewed the State of Qatar's condemnation of the Iranian attacks carried out on Wednesday against the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, considering them a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of these brotherly countries, a clear breach of international law, and a serious threat to regional security and stability.
The Cabinet expressed the State of Qatar's full solidarity with the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and its support for all measures they take to safeguard their sovereignty and security. It stressed the importance of shielding the region from the consequences of such unjustified attacks, de-escalating tensions, and restoring security and stability at both the regional and international levels.
As part of the session's proceedings, the Cabinet noted the Shura Council's approval of a draft law on metrology.
The draft law was prepared to replace Law No. (21) of 1972 on the Unification and Determination of Measures, Scales and Weights. The policy and strategy aim to establish an integrated national framework for promoting national local content in government procurement, creating the highest possible level of sustainable local value, and encouraging private-sector investment locally by providing new investment opportunities for local entrepreneurs and attracting international investors. The policy and strategy also aim to achieve the highest levels of competitiveness, contribute to the development of private-sector businesses, support the growth of local industries and companies, in line with the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy aimed at building a diversified and sustainable economy based on knowledge and innovation.
From there, the Cabinet approved a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Ministry of Justice in the State of Qatar and the Department of Justice in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, as well as a draft MoU between the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority of the State of Qatar and the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market.
