Doha, June 10 (QNA) - The Qatar News Agency (QNA) has won the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA)'s Quality Award 2024-2025 for its project to establish a joint digital training hub for Arab news agency journalists.
The project aims to enhance journalists' skills, strengthen their ability to adapt to the rapidly evolving media landscape, promote integration among member agencies, and leverage technological advancements.
In a statement, FANA said that since 2022, its General Secretariat has dedicated a special award for outstanding initiatives by its member news agencies, with the aim of supporting Arab news agencies' development and diversifying their output in line with global media-sector developments.
During the 2024–2025 period, FANA has received two submissions: QNA's and the Saudi Press Agency (SPA)'s Saudi Photos Hub, which seeks to support and develop media work and expand the reach of Arab media messaging regionally and internationally, FANA said.
In recognition of their efforts and contributions to advancing  Arab news agency media work, QNA and SPA will both be honored during the 52nd FANA General Assembly session, set to take place in Q4 2026.
Titled 'the digital platform for developing modern journalism skills,' QNA's project involves creating a shared internal online platform designed to train journalists from various member agencies in modern media skills.
It comes in response to the rapid transformations taking place in the media industry and the emergence of new challenges associated with digital technologies.
The platform offers specialized and continuously updated training programs in digital journalism, multimedia content production, cybersecurity for data protection and investigative journalism, and the use of artificial intelligence in information gathering, verification, and rapid data analysis.
The project's vision is for the platform to become a regional hub for training media professionals equipped with the tools of the digital age, combining journalistic professionalism with technological advancement.
It also seeks to foster integration among member news agencies through unified training standards and the exchange of expertise, strengthen information security for journalists and media institutions against cyber threats and disinformation, and collectively benefit from technological progress to ensure the competitiveness and diversity of news content.
The project will be implemented by creating a closed electronic platform featuring flexible training content of recorded courses and live broadcasts.
In this context, the QNA Training Center has expressed readiness to make its training programs available to Arab news agency journalists.
The project will feature coaching by trainers and experts from member agencies and beyond, interactive workshops and real-world simulations, accredited certificates, and the use of tools to assess participants' performance and monitor the development of their skills.
The project is expected to help build a cadre of media professionals capable of keeping pace with technological and digital challenges, strengthen interaction and integration among FANA agencies through knowledge-sharing and cooperation, and improve the quality of media content produced by member agencies.
Its competitive advantage lies in reducing costs by sharing human resources and training content, decreasing reliance on external training providers, localizing knowledge, and enhancing the exchange of media expertise and experiences among participating institutions.
The award underscores the importance of initiatives that aim to develop professional skills and strengthen Arab media cooperation. It also reflects the Federation's recognition of the project's role in meeting the evolving digital media environment's demands.
This win is added to QNA's record of accomplishments, having won the FANA Award for Best Report in 2022 for its report titled "Private Museums Enhance Cultural Vision, Community Awareness in Qatar." (QNA)
