Qatar Participates in 35th Session of CCPCJ in Vienna
Vienna, June 01 (QNA) - The State of Qatar took part in the 35th session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), convened in Vienna.
The delegation was headed by HE Legal Advisor to HE Minister of Interior, Maj. Gen. Dr. Abdullah Yousef Al Mal, who underscored the importance of boosting multilateral cooperation to curb transnational organized crime, cybercrime, and corruption.
Transnational organized crime is aggravating amid conflicts and international polarization, Dr. Al Mal highlighted, stressing that international cooperation represents a core pillar in safeguarding global peace and security, as well as addressing common security challenges.
Al Mal debated the most salient efforts the State of Qatar has projected in this domain, including the hosting of the 11th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (COSP11) in December 2025.
This conference, he clarified, witnessed the adoption of the "Doha Declaration" in support of enhancing international cooperation and capacity-building in the anti-corruption domain.
In addition, Dr. Al Mal affirmed that the State of Qatar touts its role in negotiating the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime. He called on nations to promptly sanction this convention to ensure its entry into force and strengthen global efforts to counter cybercrimes.
Wrapping up his remarks, Dr. Al Mal called for increasing investment in the fields of crime prevention and criminal justice, as well as pursuing comprehensive strategies that remedy the socioeconomic causes of crime, with a particular emphasis on youth empowerment and investing in their capabilities.
