Podgorica, May 06 (QNA) - With a delegation led by HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, the Shura Council is participating in the inaugural summit of the of the Speakers and Presidents of Parliaments from the member and partner countries of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) and PAM 20th Plenary Session, which will be hosted by Budva, Montenegro, on May 6-7.
Alongside the General Assembly meetings, the summit will discuss a number of key topics, particularly parliamentary diplomacy and its role in strengthening institutional resilience, in addition to issues of political and security cooperation, dialogue between civilizations and human rights, economic and environmental challenges, as well as issues of migration and children in armed conflicts, within the framework of strengthening parliamentary coordination and exchanging experiences between member and partner states.
This summit is an important milestone in PAM's work, as it brings together the speakers and presidents of parliaments to discuss regional and international issues and to promote joint parliamentary action.
In a related context, the General Secretariat of the Shura Council participated in the 5th Meeting of Secretaries General of PAM Member and Partner Parliaments, which was held on the sidelines of the 20th session of PAM General Assembly, hosted by the Republic of Montenegro.
Within this framework, HE Shura Council Secretary-General, Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud emphasized that the true value of knowledge is no longer limited to possessing it, but lies in the ability to activate and employ it collectively and effectively to serve institutional goals. He pointed out that the rapid development in artificial intelligence technologies has provided institutions, including parliaments, with unprecedented opportunities to reformulate knowledge management systems and transform them into analytical tools that support decision-making and enhance collaborative work.
His Excellency indicated that parliaments face increasing challenges in dealing with the large amount of legislative and oversight data and information, which calls for the development of practical models to transform institutional knowledge into shared intelligence supported by artificial intelligence, which contributes to improving the quality of legislation, the effectiveness of oversight and policy analysis, and enhancing transparency and the efficiency of parliamentary performance.
His Excellency also addressed the efforts of the Shura Council General Secretariat in this field, through the launch of its institutional strategy for the period 2025-2030, which aims to develop the legislative and oversight support system, raise the efficiency of administrative and organizational work, and promote digital transformation and institutional innovation. He noted the implementation of a number of projects and initiatives that focus on digitizing processes and building electronic knowledge platforms that support a smart work environment based on the speed of information flow and the accuracy of documentation.
His Excellency concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the visions and ideas presented during the meeting would contribute to enhancing the use of AI in developing parliamentary work, and achieving a qualitative leap in managing institutional knowledge and transforming it into shared parliamentary intelligence that supports decision-making and enhances transparency.
In addition, HE Vice President of PAM and member of the Bureau Abdullah bin Nasser bin Turki Al Subaie participated in the 58th meeting of PAM Bureau, which was held Wednesday as part of the meetings accompanying the General Assembly.
