Doha, June 25 (QNA) - The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) announced today the reopening of applications for educational vouchers through the "Maarif" public services portal.

The initiative stems from the Ministry's commitment to providing this opportunity to the largest possible segment of eligible Qatari students, thereby promoting equal educational opportunities through the Ministry's social responsibility project implemented in cooperation with private schools and kindergartens.

The project allows eligible students to benefit from diverse educational options in accordance with the approved regulations and requirements.

In a statement, the Ministry explained that it has updated the eligibility criteria, most notably raising the maximum actual family income, after deducting all financial obligations, to QAR 35,000 per month.

In this context, Director of the Private Schools and Kindergartens Department and Acting Director of the Private Schools Licensing Department at MOEHE, Dr. Rania Mohammed affirmed that the ministry's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project, launched in partnership with private schools and kindergartens, continues to expand its support for eligible families. She noted that the project currently provides more than 9,000 seats distributed across four categories: fully free, discounted, seats for students with disabilities, and sreats subsidized by educational vouchers.

She indicated that the project includes approximately 2,400 seats funded by educational vouchers. She explained that these seats allow parents to enroll their children in schools participating in the educational voucher system without incurring any additional tuition fees, even if the school's annual fees exceed the value of the educational voucher, which is QAR 28,000. The school owners cover the difference as part of their contribution to the CSR project.

The Ministry noted that it has introduced a significant update to the eligibility criteria for subsidized educational voucher seats, raising the maximum monthly income limit for families from 25,000 riyals to 35,000 riyals. This increase aims to broaden the number of beneficiaries of this initiative.

Dr. Rania Mohammed emphasized that the term "actual family income" refers not only to the salary stated on the official payslip, but also to the remaining income after deducting all financial obligations. She stressed the importance of parents submitting the original payslip along with supporting documents proving other financial obligations when applying for available seats.

She confirmed that eligible Qatari parents can submit their applications electronically through the "Maarif" portal on the Ministry's website, attaching all required documents to complete the application process and secure a seat. (QNA)
