Washington, May 29 (QNA) - The United Nations stressed Friday that age restrictions alone are not enough to protect children online, calling for stronger digital safety measures and stricter oversight of technology platforms.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk said harms facing children online are linked to platform design and business practices, including endless scrolling and autoplay features that encourage excessive use.

The UN urged governments and tech companies to adopt child safety standards from the design stage and announced new guidelines calling for independent oversight, accountability measures, and legal penalties for violations. (QNA)
