Gaza Government Media Office Warns of Worsening Humanitarian Catastrophe in Gaza Strip
Gaza, May 25 (QNA) - The Government Media Office in Gaza warned on Monday of an unprecedented deterioration in the humanitarian situation across the Strip due to ongoing Israeli occupation blockade and restrictions on the entry of essential aid.
In a statement, the office stated that Gaza is facing a severe and worsening shortage of basic food supplies amid the collapse of the food security system, driven by restrictions on the movement of goods and disruptions to humanitarian and commercial supply flows.
The statement noted that available supplies fall far short of meeting basic needs, particularly considering widespread poverty, displacement, and the destruction of sources of income and production.
It added that restrictions on fuel and essential goods have disrupted supply chains, driven up prices, and reduced the operating capacity of bakeries, critical facilities, and basic services, warning that conditions could worsen further as Eid Al-Adha approaches.
The office said current aid deliveries remain well below agreed levels. While arrangements call for the entry of 600 trucks per day, including 50 fuel trucks, only 37 percent of the agreed volume has entered Gaza, with fuel deliveries reaching just 14 percent of the required amount.
It stressed that the continuation of these conditions is deepening the humanitarian crisis and reflects what it described as a policy of collective siege imposed on civilians in violation of international humanitarian law.
The office called on the international community, the United Nations, and relevant parties to take urgent action to ensure the full reopening of border crossings and the unhindered entry of humanitarian assistance. (QNA)
