Doha Book Fair Panel Explores Contemporary Approaches to Religious Dialogue
Doha, May 23 (QNA) - A scholarly seminar held at the cultural salon of the Doha International Book Fair has highlighted new academic perspectives on interfaith dialogue and coexistence in modern societies.
Organized by the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, the session featured an analytical reading of contemporary studies on religious dialogue
The discussion included presentations on recent academic works examining the concept of covenants and shared ethical values across religious traditions, with speakers emphasizing the importance of dialogue, mutual understanding and respect for diversity.
Scholars also revisited historical models such as the Charter of Medina, describing it as an early framework for pluralism and peaceful coexistence, while underscoring that Islamic teachings promote justice, human dignity and the rejection of coercion in faith.
The panel concluded that applying these academic and theological insights to modern realities could help counter rising narratives of intolerance and hate speech, while fostering a culture of "recognition, understanding and peaceful coexistence" among different communities. (QNA)
