Jeddah, May 20 (QNA) - The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed its indignation and strong condemnation of media reports regarding the intention of the so-called "Somaliland" to open a so-called "embassy" in the occupied city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem).

It considered this move as a flagrant challenge to the will of the international community and a serious violation of the United Nations Charter and its relevant resolutions.

The General Secretariat said this unlawful step comes as part of what it described as "desperate and illegitimate Israeli attempts" to extract recognitions from internationally unrecognized entities, including the so-called "Somaliland" region, with the aim of consolidating its alleged sovereignty over the occupied city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), in clear violation of the principles of international law.

The Organization stressed that Israel doesn't have any sovereignty over East Al-Quds (Jerusalem), which is the capital of the State of Palestine, indicating that any measures intended to change the political, demographic, or geographical status of the city are null and void under international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

As such, the Secretariat reiterated its full solidarity with the Federal Republic of Somalia, proclaiming support for its national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and regional security.

It called on the international community to condemn this move and reject any attempt to grant international legal legitimacy to an unrecognized separatist entity, and to work to compel the Israeli occupation to comply with resolutions of international legitimacy. (QNA)
