NHRC Hosts Introductory Meeting on Institutional Sustainability Study
Doha, May 20 (QNA) - The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC), in cooperation with the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, organized an introductory meeting on a research project on institutional sustainability from a human rights perspective in public institutions, with the participation of several ministries, government bodies, public institutions, private sector entities, and civil society organizations in the country.
In a statement, the NHRC said the meeting is part of its mandate in conducting studies and research, promoting a culture of human rights, raising awareness, and supporting the development of institutional policies and practices aligned with human rights principles.
It explained that the session aimed to introduce the study's objectives, methodology, and research tools, as well as explain the process of completing the study questionnaires and the role of institutions in supporting its implementation, ensuring data accuracy and quality results.
In this context, HE NHRC Vice ChairmanDr. Mohammed bin Saif Al Kuwari said the study is based on a comprehensive concept of institutional sustainability, linking institutional performance efficiency and rational use of resources with governance, transparency, accountability, institutional justice, and respect for human rights in the workplace.
He added that the study addresses four main dimensions: environmental, social, economic, and institutional sustainability and governance, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, particularly Goal 16 on building effective, transparent, accountable, and inclusive institutions.
Al Kuwari stressed that the study seeks to provide a clearer picture of institutional sustainability across ministries, government bodies, public institutions, and the private sector, identifying strengths and areas for improvement to enhance institutional performance and improve governance and public services on more equitable, transparent, and sustainable foundations.
He noted that the meeting represents an important preliminary step in the structured implementation of the study and reflects the Committee's commitment to strengthening research and institutional partnerships to achieve robust scientific results and practical outputs that support institutional development and promote a culture of human rights in public institutions.
For his part, Dean of the College of Economics, Administration and Public Policy at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies Dr. Eyhab Saad said institutional sustainability is a key strategic pillar in developing the public sector and enhancing the ability of public organizations to adapt to rapid changes and transformations.
He noted that the study is a national academic effort aimed at providing data to support decision-makers and improve policies and institutional practices according to international standards, adding that addressing institutional sustainability from a human rights perspective gives the study greater depth in understanding the relationship between institutional efficiency and the promotion of human rights.
