State Award Winners to QNA: Recognition Inspires Innovation, Anchors Qatari Identity
Doha, May 19 (QNA) - Winners of the 7th State Appreciation and Incentive Awards in Sciences, Arts, and Literature expressed deep pride in being honored Tuesday by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
They emphasized that the recognition reflects Qatar's dedication to supporting national talent, fostering creativity, and strengthening the country's cultural footprint regionally and globally.
In statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the laureates noted that the honor brings a profound responsibility to produce even more impactful work.
They credited continuous state support for advancing Qatar's creative landscape across poetry, novel writing, visual arts, and historical research.
Poet and media personality Hamad bin Mohsen Al Naimi, winner of the State Appreciation Award in Poetry, stated that the recognition underscores leadership's commitment to celebrating literary contributions.
He affirmed that Qatari poetry remains deeply influential despite rapid technological shifts, recalling his long career broadcasting cultural programs on Qatar Radio.
Similarly, Qatari historian and researcher Mustafa Aqeel, winner of the State Appreciation Award in History, extended his gratitude to HH the Amir, noting that the award provides a powerful incentive for ongoing intellectual output.
He stressed that history serves as a vital anchor for national identity, forming the living memory that connects society to its cultural and intellectual roots.
For her part, Qatari novelist Shamma Shahin Al Kuwari, winner of the State Incentive Award in the Novel category, expressed her pride in being honored by HH the Amir, describing the recognition as a medal of honor for her literary journey.
She extended her gratitude to HH the Amir and the Ministry of Culture for their continuous support of national writers.
Al Kuwari noted that the award brings a deep sense of artistic responsibility, inspiring more mature and profound future works.
Discussing Qatari literature, she highlighted how local novels have firmly established their presence in the Gulf cultural scene by evolving beyond local documentation to address broader intellectual and humanitarian themes.
Meanwhile, Qatari cartoonist Saad Al Muhannadi, winner of the State Incentive Award in Caricature, stated that the encouragement received directly from HH the Amir serves as an immense moral boost for his artistic career.
He emphasized that the award celebrates the entire art form of caricature in Qatar as a powerful visual tool for expressing societal issues.
Al Muhannadi added that despite digital transformations and the rise of artificial intelligence, caricature maintains its profound impact because it relies fundamentally on human creativity, reading reality, and delivering meaningful visual messages. (QNA)
