Paris, May 19 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated Tuesday in the opening session of the fifth edition of the "No Money for Terror" conference, held in Paris.

The State of Qatar was represented at the opening session by HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari.

During the session, HE the Minister of Finance affirmed Qatar's support for international efforts aimed at combating terrorism financing and enhancing the integrity of the global financial system, emphasizing the importance of developing international cooperation mechanisms and keeping pace with emerging challenges related to virtual assets and modern technologies.

Despite the significant progress achieved over the past years, His Excellency said, terrorism financing continues to evolve through more complex channels, including virtual assets, online crowdfunding, and emerging tools enhanced by artificial intelligence. This requires a collective international response characterized by flexibility and the same level of technological advancement.

He stressed that the State of Qatar remains firmly committed to strengthening international cooperation, developing information exchange mechanisms, and supporting balanced regulatory frameworks that maintain the integrity of the financial system, while ensuring that legitimate financial flows are not affected by over-compliance measures.

The conference aims to enhance global cooperation in detecting and preventing financial transactions linked to terrorism, and to develop legal and regulatory frameworks to combat terrorism financing at both national and international levels.

It also focuses on improving financial oversight and tracking through the exchange of intelligence and best practices, discussing emerging threats to combat illicit financial flows, and strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors to achieve compliance with anti-terrorism financing laws.
