Kyiv, May 16 (QNA) - Ukraine announced on Saturday that Russia has handed over the remains of 528 Ukrainian soldiers killed in combat.

Ukraine's Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War stated that the bodies of 528 deceased individuals have been returned to Ukraine as a result of repatriation efforts, noting that these bodies may have belonged to Ukrainian servicemen according to Russia.

Investigators and experts will take all necessary steps to identify them, the Coordination Headquarters added.
Last week, US President Donald Trump had announced a three-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, along with an exchange of 1,000 prisoners from each side.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that this prisoner exchange represents the first phase of the process announced by President Trump. (QNA)
