Qatar Beach Volleyball Team to Compete in 2026 Huntington Beach Tournament
Doha, May 14 (QNA) - Qatar national men's beach volleyball team will participate in the 2026 Huntington Beach Volleyball Tournament in the United States, scheduled to take place from May 15 to 17.
The Qatari team will be represented by the experienced duo of Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, who will compete alongside some of the sport's top stars in the United States. The pair are currently ranked sixth in the world in the rankings of the International Federation of Volleyball following a series of impressive results on the Beach Pro Tour circuit.
The participation marks a historic milestone for Qatar, as the Huntington Beach tournament is regarded as one of the premier beach volleyball events in the United States and traditionally features only American teams. The Qatari duo have become just the sixth international team in the tournament's history to receive an official invitation to compete in the main draw.
Younousse and Tijan boast an outstanding record on the international stage, highlighted by their bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and a fourth-place finish at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The pair also secured three Elite16 gold medals on the Beach Pro Tour last year. (QNA)
