UN Condemns Israeli Airstrikes on Lebanon
New York, April 08 (QNA) - The United Nations strongly condemned the Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon that resulted in a large number of civilian casualties, calling for a cessation of hostilities, a return to diplomatic channels, and a renewed commitment to Security Council Resolution 1701.
Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, conveyed the organization's call to all parties at a press conference Wednesday, urging them to resort to diplomatic channels, cease hostilities, and recommit to Security Council Resolution 1701.
He stated that the ceasefire between the US and Iran offers an opportunity to prevent further loss of life in Lebanon and Israel, urging all parties to adhere to the ceasefire.
He added that the time has come to pursue talks to resolve outstanding differences and work towards a permanent ceasefire and a long-term solution to the conflict, emphasizing that there is no military solution to the conflict.
Earlier today, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that 112 people were killed and 837 wounded as a result of Israeli airstrikes on various areas in Lebanon. (QNA)
