Bahrain Welcomes Announcement of Ceasefire between US, Iran
Manama, April 08 (QNA) - Bahrain has welcomed the announcement by US President Donald Trump of a two-week ceasefire agreement with Iran, along with understandings to fully, immediately, and safely reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
A statement issued by the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that this development could help foster a positive environment for diplomacy and de-escalation in the Middle East, and commended the constructive mediation efforts of Pakistan, which contributed to the agreement.
It emphasized that this step should lead to an immediate and comprehensive halt to all hostile and unjustified Iranian attacks against Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and Jordan.
The Ministry also underscored the need for Iran to fully comply with its obligations under international law, including the principles of good neighborliness and relevant international resolutions.
It further called for a sustainable resolution that ensures Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons, halts the development and proliferation of ballistic missiles and drones, and refrains from activities that could destabilize regional and global security. (QNA)
