Islamabad, April 08 (QNA) - Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan's recent diplomatic efforts to de-escalate regional tensions represent one of the most honorable moments in Pakistan's history.

He emphasized that this success reflects national unity, close coordination between the civilian and military leadership, and sincere efforts to promote peace among brotherly nations.

In a speech during a cabinet meeting, Sharif added that Pakistan had a rare opportunity to contribute constructively to containing a conflict that could have escalated to encompass the region and the world.

He noted that the two-week truce could pave the way for a permanent ceasefire and the achievement of lasting peace.

The Pakistani Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the positive response from several international leaders, including US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, to Pakistan's diplomatic efforts, as well as the support of several friendly countries for the peace initiative.

Sharif reiterated that the temporary ceasefire was a first step, and that Pakistan would continue working with its international partners to achieve stability and prosperity in the region.

He noted that delegations from the US and Iran were expected to visit to continue diplomatic efforts, emphasizing that Pakistan had strengthened its international standing as a key player in supporting peace. (QNA)
