Doha, April 09 (QNA) - FIFA has announced the list of referees appointed to officiate matches at the 2026 World Cup finals, which will kick off next June and be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with an expanded 48-team tournament for the first time in its history.

The list included a notable Qatari presence, with the selection of a Qatari refereeing team, reaffirming international confidence in Qatari refereeing expertise and its ability to manage major global tournaments efficiently and effectively.

The Qatari refereeing team consists of Abdulrahman Al Jassim as an on-field official, along with Saud Ahmed and Taleb Salem Al Marri as assistant referees, while Khamis Al Marri was selected as a Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

This selection reflects the advanced standing Qatari referees have achieved on the international stage, particularly after their successful participation in continental and global tournaments in recent years, which has contributed to honing the skills of Qatari referees and enhancing their presence at major events.(QNA)
