Arab League Condemns Israeli Attacks on Lebanon
Cairo, April 08 (QNA) - The Arab League strongly condemned the barbaric and unprecedented Israeli attacks on Lebanon, which resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries among innocent civilians.
The League affirmed that these attacks constitute a blatant violation and a serious breach of all international laws, accusing Israel of actively seeking to sabotage the ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit explained that while the international community is making strenuous efforts to defuse the war, and the region is looking forward to a de-escalation that will lead to a sustainable settlement of the ongoing conflict, Israel continues its obstructive role in hindering any understandings that could contribute to restoring stability in the region.
He stated that Israel's systematic and blatant policy of igniting the situation through Lebanon, and potentially undermining any effort aimed at restoring security and stability in the region, is a clear attempt to derail these efforts.
Aboul Gheit reiterated the Arab League’s call, in accordance with the declaration issued by its Council on March 29, for influential countries in the international community to pressure Israel to immediately halt its condemned attacks on Lebanon and implement the relevant international resolutions, stressing the Arab League’s solidarity with Lebanon and its people to overcome this difficult stage.
