QBF Announces Adjustment to Women’s League Final Day Schedule
Doha, April 08 (QNA) - The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) has announced a change to the final day schedule of the third phase of the Qatar Women's Basketball League for the 2025–2026 season. Both matches will now be played at a unified time.
The Federation explained that this adjustment comes as part of the organizational arrangements for concluding the third phase.
This decision coincides with the competition entering its final stages after the penultimate round, which helped shape a clearer picture of the race for the lead and the top spots. Al Gharafa continued its strong performances with an 84–48 victory over Al Khor, reaffirming its position at the top of the standings and maintaining a perfect record of 10 points. Al Khor, meanwhile, stands in third place with 7 points.
In another match, Al Shamal defeated Al Adaam 61–51, strengthening its hold on second place with 7 points. As for Al Adaam, the team continues its participation in the league within a developmental framework aimed at enhancing player experience and exposure, without its results being counted in the official standings. This initiative allows its players to face technically and physically stronger teams as part of a broader plan to advance women’s basketball in Qatar.
The league this season is being held under a three-phase system, designed to raise the level of competition and increase the number of matches. This format contributes to improving the technical and physical performance of the players, with the team accumulating the highest points total across all rounds ultimately crowned champion.
Meanwhile, the QBF organized a specialized lecture on psychological support for players in the Under-12 and Under-14 categories, in collaboration with Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital.
The session was attended by club and national team players, along with Lebanese coach Rana Bazazo, Technical Director and Head Coach of the Women’s National Team. Their participation highlighted the importance of coordination between technical and administrative bodies in providing psychological support during different stages of player preparation.
Dr. Karim Khaladi, a psychological therapy specialist from Aspetar, delivered the lecture. It focused on practical tools to help players cope with psychological pressures, build self-confidence, overcome competition-related anxiety, and reinforce concepts of positive thinking and mental discipline—key elements in enhancing athletic performance.
