Process of Facilitation of Iran-US Talks Continues, Pakistan Says
Islamabad, April 30 (QNA) - Pakistan said on Thursday that its efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East remain ongoing, confirming that it is maintaining communication with both Iran and the United States.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said in a press briefing that communication channels remain open on multiple fronts, particularly with regard to tensions between Washington and Tehran, describing Islamabad’s mediation efforts as "constructive."
He added that recent ceasefire understandings had helped prevent further escalation and civilian casualties, stressing that negotiations are continuing without interruption.
Andrabi further noted that Pakistan remains in contact with all relevant parties and continues to support direct dialogue aimed at achieving lasting regional stability. He also addressed concerns over the potential imposition of a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, warning of the serious repercussions such a move could have on global trade and energy security, an issue that has prompted discussions at the United Nations Security Council.
Pakistan has previously led mediation efforts between Tehran and Washington in a bid to curb escalating tensions. Two rounds of talks were held in the capital, Islamabad, but did not result in a comprehensive resolution to end hostilities, instead reinforcing a fragile status quo described as "neither war nor peace."
