Doha, April 03 (QNA) - Al Sadd and Qatar qualified Friday for the quarterfinals of HH the Amir Volleyball Cup for the 2025-2026 season.

Al Sadd secured their place with their second consecutive victory, defeating Al Ahli 3-0 in the second round of Group B in the qualifying stage, with set scores of 25-21, 25-19, and 25-22.

Al Sadd had previously defeated Al Shamal 3-0 in the first round, guaranteeing them the top spot in Group B and one of the two quarterfinal berths.

The second qualifying spot from this group will be decided in tomorrow's (Saturday) match between Al Shamal and Al Ahli in the third and final round of the qualifying stage.

Qatar SC qualified after defeating Al Gharafa 3-0 in the second round of Group A in the qualifying stage, with set scores of 25-14, 25-15, and 25-23.

The opening round of Group A matches, held two days prior, saw Al Gharafa defeat Al Khor 3-1, with set scores of 25-14, 25-16, 19-25, and 29-27.

With this victory, Qatar SC topped Group A with 3 points from one match, ahead of Al Gharafa, who also had 3 points but played two matches, on set difference.

The match between Qatar SC and Al Khor tomorrow (Saturday) will determine the second qualifying team from this group.

Qatar SC has already secured qualification regardless of the result of their upcoming match, even if they lose. Al Khor, on the other hand, needs to win tomorrow's match by a score of 3-0 or 3-1 to claim the second qualifying spot. A 3-2 victory or any other result would see Al Gharafa advance.

The qualifying stage is played in a round-robin format within each group, with three rounds. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.

These four teams will then join the top four teams from the league championship: Al Arabi, Al Wakrah, Al Shorta, and Al Rayyan, thus completing the quarterfinal lineup.

The qualifiers are scheduled to conclude tomorrow (Saturday) with the third round of matches: Al Ahli vs. Al Shamal (Group B) and Qatar vs. Al Khor (Group A). (QNA)
