Iraqi Air Defenses Foil Two Attempts to Target Perimeter of Baghdad International Airport Balad Air Base
Baghdad, April 03 (QNA) - Iraqi security sources announced Friday that air defenses thwarted two attempts to target the perimeter of Balad Air Base in Salah al-Din Governorate, north of Baghdad, using two drones.
The same sources reported that the defense systems detected the drones, engaged them, and shot them down outside the base perimeter.
The incident resulted in no casualties. Security forces have imposed strict measures in the area and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the attack and the party responsible.
In a related development, another security source revealed that the perimeter of the support facility at Baghdad International Airport was targeted by a drone.
The source confirmed that air defenses intercepted the drone before it reached its target.
It is worth noting that the perimeter of Baghdad Airport and the US Victory Logistics Support Base have been subjected to almost daily attacks by drones and missiles from various sources since the escalation of tensions in the Middle East. (QNA)
