Cairo, April 03 (QNA) - Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a phone call on Friday with Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss the latest regional developments and ongoing conflicts.

According to a statement from the Egyptian presidency, El-Sisi outlined Cairo's efforts to curb escalation and halt the ongoing conflict in the region, stressing the need to spare populations from further instability. He underscored the importance of reducing tensions, warning of their broader impact on regional security as well as global economic and trade stability.

El-Sisi also called for coordinated regional and international efforts to end the war, reiterating Egypt's rejection of attacks on the sovereignty of Arab states and its support for their territorial integrity. He emphasized the need for peaceful solutions and reaffirmed Egypt's backing for initiatives aimed at reaching a political settlement as soon as possible.

For his part, Zelenskyy welcomed Egypt's efforts to promote de-escalation and maintain regional stability, expressing agreement on the importance of avoiding further escalation. He also briefed El-Sisi on developments in the Russia-Ukraine war and thanked Egypt for its position and continued support for efforts to end the conflict. (QNA)
