S. Korea's Stock Market Capitalization Hits Record High (1)
Seoul, April 27 (QNA) - The total market capitalization of the South Korean stock exchange Monday exceeded the 6,000 trillion won mark (about $4.06 trillion) for the first time in its history, driven by strong gains in the main stock indices amid growing investor appetite for technology stocks.
The total market capitalization reached 6,031 trillion won, distributed among its three main markets: the KOSPI market, the KOSDAQ market which includes technology companies, and the CONEX market dedicated to innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, the Korea Exchange reported.
According to the data, the KOSPI market accounted for the largest share with a market value of 5,354 trillion won, while the market values ​​of the KOSDAQ index market and the CONEX index market reached 673 trillion won and 3.63 trillion won, respectively.
The KOSPI index hit new record highs, rising to 6,565.73 points at the start of trading this morning, while the KOSDAQ index surpassed the 1,200-point mark, its highest level in years. (QNA)
