German Army Orders Equipment Worth Over EUR 1 Billion for Its Soldiers
Berlin, April 27 (QNA) - German defense company Rheinmetall announced Monday that the German Army's procurement office has awarded it a EUR 1.04 billion contract to supply soldier systems called "Future Soldier - Extended System."
This order follows billions of euros in orders for tanks, ammunition, and satellites.
The company stated that the German Army ordered infantry equipment, including protective vests, military uniforms, and night-vision devices that can be mounted on helmets or weapons, as well as tablets carried by soldiers that allow them to monitor potential enemy positions.
The contract also includes software that allows commanders to track troop and enemy positions in real time.
Rheinmetall’s infantry systems are scheduled to be delivered to 8,600 soldiers between November 2027 and December 2029. The order is part of a framework agreement worth EUR0 3.1 billion , part of which has now been activated, with additional orders expected later. (QNA)
